There’s a contest going on at “Letsmix.com” It’s called the “Next Generation DJ Contest”. The prize is more than just a bit of software or a cool set of fancy headphones. The prize is pretty much the end-all for contests of this kind … basically it’s a shot a being the next ‘Above & Beyond’ or ‘Armin van Buuren’. This is the real deal.

I’ve been entering mixes in a bunch of random contests, but decided that this one needed was important enough to upload one of the later, more well received mixes. So EXHILARATOR, it is.

But … There’s a big “catch” in the way the winner is chosen here. No matter how good the mix is … I need votes! I need over 100 listens and the highest star ratings to move on to the next stage. And that’s how I need you to help. Listen to EXHILARATOR, rate the mix (of course I’d love 5 stars, I won’t lie) and share the mix on your Facebook Page, your Twitter, your blog, your whatever … email the link, tell all your friends to listen and vote and tell them to do the same thing pass the link on encourage everyone to vote (and vote soon) … there are only a few days left — the deadline is Jan 31st.

The Unknowns — Remastered

djdigit’s bandcamp

Camp is great, but at some point, you have to pack and go home … So, I’m pulling my CDs from one of my hosted sites bandcamp.com, so that it can be focused on iTunes, Rhapsody and a few of the other main online shops …

But before I take the pages down, I’m giving everyone one more chance to get the CDs at the prices I choose not what iTunes chooses. When you buy from me, you get a couple things the big boys won’t give you:
+ Your Choice of High Quality Format — MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC … all for the same price.
+ The choice to pay by Credit Card, or PayPal.

… And most importantly — the money you pay supports the artist — me. Apple doesn’t get any, distributors don’t get any. I get to pay my bills and make more great music without even involving them. Sure, you can get the music from them, it’s on iTunes and every major distributor, but it costs more for you, and I get less from them. Last week I planned on mixing a show that was funky, groovy and titled “The Sound of Saturday Night”. But that never happened; at least it didn’t happen the way I’d planned. That’s the beauty of music; when you let it take you on its journey it will show you wonderful new places and inspire you in amazing new ways.

What started out as one type of show, took a completely different road and became “Tranceformed”. I hope you enjoy this extra-long mix. This one was definitely an emotional ride for me. The lyrics and dynamics of many of the tracks are sure to be moving for you, if not much more. ‘The Unknowns’, my new studio album, has been received quite well since I ‘semi-quietly’ released it several weeks back. I’m excited by all of the great feedback I’ve gotten on it so far. Thank you for all of the support and great comments, texts, emails and calls. It means a lot to me that you enjoy the music as much as you have.

What started out (back in 2004) as a personal collection of music that I put together as a sort of introspective musical diary, is now available to everyone. I admit I was a bit nervous to release a bunch of songs that I’d kept from almost everyone in my life for the past five years. But I’m glad I did; it means even more to me when the music has meaning to you as it does to me while I’m writing it.
